616 Deputy Director: ICT Infrastructure (P6)

Main purpose of the job

To plan, organize, and manage staff and overall operations to ensure the stable operation of CUT’s ICT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The Infrastructure Manager will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

Main tasks
  1. Strategy and Planning
  2. Acquisition and Deployment
  3. Operational Management
  4. Control and implementation of ICT Security
  5. Manage the performance & development of staff
Nature of appointment: Permanent Support Services
Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company): R 1 235 235 per annum (2026 salary scales to be confirmed)

Accordingly, the preferred candidate may expect an offer that is in line with their qualifications and years of similar experience. Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience            
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (NQF Level 7) or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • Eight (8) years’ relevant experience, of which five (5) should be in managing ICT Infrastructure or ICT.
Desired Qualification, Knowledge and/or Experience 
  • Postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or related field (Honours Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or equivalent – NQF Level 8).
  • Ten (10) years’ ICT experience, of which eight (8) years are in senior infrastructure management roles.
